Star Wars Episode II
Attack of the Clones
The Characters and Locations
Just turned 20 years old, Anakin Skywalker is the headstrong Jedi apprentice of Obi-Wan Kenobi. So powerful is he in the ways of the Force, that some say he is the Chosen One of an ancient Jedi prophecy. He was taken into the Jedi order at the age of nine, far older than most candidates. As such, Anakin is not as disciplined as he should be. His exceptional abilities have led to an arrogance and self-assuredness that may prove dangerous. Anakin is an excellent swordsman and pilot, and has a strong compassionate nature. In the years to come, Anakin will succumb to the irresistible call of the dark side, and turn into the Sith Lord tyrant, Darth Vader.
Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan is a very skilled Jedi Knight and serves as a mentor to young Anakin. Ten years ago, Obi-Wan made a promise to his dying master that he would take Anakin as his apprentice. Though the two formed a strong bond of friendship in the past decade, Obi-Wan is often frustrated by Anakin's recklessness. Obi-Wan is tasked to discover the identity of a would-be assassin, and his mission takes him to a distant world where he learns of a mysterious clone army apparently commissioned for the Republic a decade ago.
No longer the Queen of Naboo, Padmé Amidala now serves her people by representing the planet in the Galactic Senate. She is an outspoken 24-year old politician with the best interests of the Republic in her heart. Ever the diplomat and peacekeeper, she has spent years helping resolve tense and difficult situations. She has devoted herself fully to career, at the expense of her personal needs. In the years to come, Amidala will give birth to the twins Luke and Leia, the heroes of the original Star Wars trilogy.
One of the senior members of the Jedi Council, Yoda is a wise Jedi Master over 800 years old. The Supreme Chancellor of the Republic greatly values Yoda's guidance, but the Jedi Master's keen perception has become increasingly dulled by the growing presence of the dark side. Yoda suspects that greater forces are at work, conspiring behind the scenes to unknown ends.
A notorious bounty hunter encased in fearsome armor and armed with deadly weapons, Jango Fett is a mercenary for hire. Little interests him other than money and the safekeeping of his beloved son, Boba. Jango has become the template of a mysterious clone army being developed on the storm-shrouded world of Kamino.
Count Dooku was once a revered Jedi Master whose personal beliefs often clashed with that of the Jedi Council. He believed that the Jedi should not serve so corrupt an institute as the Republic, and 10 years ago, he turned his back on the order, becoming one of the few Jedi to voluntarily renounce his commission. Dooku resurfaced years later as the head of the Separatist movement. His powerful presence and charismatic demeanor have swayed thousands of systems to abandon the Republic in favor of reform.
The central world of the Republic, the planet Coruscant is covered by an immense city. Coruscant is home to the Galactic Senate and the Temple of the Jedi. Decisions of great import are made on this planet. While the shimmering spires of Coruscant's skyline are a beautiful sight to behold, there are also grimy industrial areas, gloomy abandoned districts and seedy lower-level entertainment venues also to be found.
A peaceful world of classical and natural beauty, Naboo is a minor rim world of little consequence to galactic affairs. It was thrust into the spotlight ten years ago during a Trade Federation blockade of the planet. As part of that event, the Galactic Senator of Naboo, Palpatine, was elected to the position of Supreme Chancellor. Naboo has an elected monarchy, and it is now ruled by Queen Jamillia. The Naboo colonists and the native Gungans have put aside their differences and now work together.
A harsh desert world in the backwater Outer Rim, Tatooine is outside of the Republic's sphere of control. The planet is largely ruled by crime lords, and smuggling, arms-dealing and slavery are rampant on the world. Tatooine is seared by the light of twin suns, and is home to such native species as the scavenging Jawas and the murderous Tusken Raiders.
Kamino. An obscure world that few know exists, Kamino lies beyond the Republic borders. It is a planet entirely covered by churning oceans that are constantly whipped into heaving tides by gale-force winds. The inhabitants of Kamino, the beautifully elegant Kaminoans, live in fortified stilt-cities above the ocean level. In these hermetic environments, the Kaminoans have earned a reputation for being extremely skilled cloners.
Geonosis. A barren desolate world of rust-colored rock and yellow-orange skies, Geonosis is home to a large foundry that churns out legions of battle droid soldiers. It is inhabited by the Geonosians, intelligent termite-like aliens that live in immense hives. The bloodthirsty inhabitants of this world execute criminals in elaborate gladiatorial combat, which pits monstrous beasts against unarmed defenders.
